Spring Open House

Saturday, May 28th, 6-9 p.m. - Spring Open House. Featuring  a photograph exhibit of historic lighthouse scenes and candid lighthouse photographs as well as drawings by South Haven elementary students. Ed Appleyard will give a short presentation about the lighthouse campaign.

Tuesday, June 14th, 7 p.m. - Gary Horton will entertain us with a program chronicling the history of the South Haven lighthouse.

Sherman Dairy Ice Cream Social



Sunday, June 26th, 2 pm - Fifth Annual Sherman's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social. The Casco Band will provide entertainment.

Cottages and Resorts on the North Beach

Tueday, July 5th and Thursday, July 7th, 7p.m. - Cottages and Resorts on the North Beach. A book launch and signing for "Cottages and Resorts on the North Beach" and a preview of the DVD "Monroe Park". The authors will give a short presentation before the video. Helen O' Rourke will also mount an exhibit of photos of the North Beach 1960-2000. This event has two showings to accommodate the anticipated attendance.

Tuesday, July 19th, 7 p.m. - Resort Memories: Catskills of the Midwest. A slide show revisitiing the Jewish resort era, narrated by Lee Niffenegger.

Songs of South Haven



Tuesday, August 23, 7 p.m. - South Haven in Stories and Song. This popular program features local musicians Andru Bemis, Pamela Chappell, and Jim Hughey, with stories by Roger Horton.

Hartman School BuildingThe Historical Association of South Haven [HASH] has its home in the old Hartman School Building, located at 355 Hubbard Street, South Haven. We have been rehabbing and improving the building, while taking care to keep its heritage intact, since the Historical Association took control of the school building in 2006.

The Historical Association is open Sundays 2-4pm throughout the summer. Come visit, view our current exhibits and learn more about South Haven history.

Seeing the need to preserve South Haven's history, the Historical Association of South Haven was formed in March of 2002. Inside Hartman School Building

This group was organized to:
  1. Promote understanding and appreciation of South Haven's history through programs and publications.
  2. Collect and preserve archives of the South Haven area.
  3. Enhance public support for the preservation of South Haven's history.
The Historical Association of South Haven is a non-profit organization which is funded through fundraisers and donations.
